Creating MySQL datadir

Create a new datadir

It is assumed here that you’re creating your new datadir at /var/lib/mysql.new - adjust accordingly.

/scripts/restartsrv_mysql --stop
[[ -d /var/lib/mysql ]] && mv /var/lib/mysql /var/lib/mysql.bad.$(date -u +%Y-%m-%d-%H:%M:%S%z)
mkdir /var/lib/mysql
chown -R mysql:mysql /var/lib/mysql
chmod 751 /var/lib/mysql
sudo -u mysql mysql_install_db --datadir=/var/lib/mysql
/scripts/restartsrv_mysql --restart
awk -F'=' '$1 ~ /^pass/ {print $2;}' ~/.my.cnf|xargs -L1 printf 'UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD("%s") WHERE User="root";' |head -n1 |mysql --password=
mysql -e "FLUSH PRIVILEGES;" --password=

MySQL will automatically create the items required for InnoDB on boot. Import missing tables

mysql_install_db on MySQL 5.6 does not correctly create all tables. In mysql run the following.

USE mysql;

  `database_name` varchar(64) COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL,
